Whale world is about 15 minutes drive from Albany. It is located on the site of the old Cheynes Beach Whaling station on the southern coast of King George Sound in Albany.
Albany Whale World
The whaling station ceased operations in 1978 and is now recognised as one of Western Australia’s most significant tourist attractions and is in fact well recognised internationally.
The complex brings together the past with the present day. This is achieved with state-of-the-art technology recreating the sounds and images of the old whaling station. There is actually a gun blast with a cloud of smoke to let visitors know the audio re-enactment of a whale chase is about to begin.
There are over 20 different exhibits including the original whaling boat - Cheynes IV.
