Climb Mount Bruce with Crikey Adventure Tours
Climb Mount Bruce for an exhilarating physical challenge and stunning views with Crikey Adventure Tours on our 11 day tour. Mt Bruce, located in Karijini National Park, is Western Australia’s second highest peak at 1,235 metres above sea level a mere 16 metres shorter than Mt Meharry. Mount Bruce (Bunurrunha to Aboriginal people) is part of the Hamersley Range – and while it doesn’t seem that massive from the car park below, the 9 km round trip climb to the top offers some breathtaking views. The walk trail winds around smaller peaks and rocky outcrops. Rising from the Spinifex-covered plains, it is revered as one of the state’s most scenic walks offering stunning, panoramic views all the way to its summit. This challenging walk will reward you with spectacular views of the landscape. First stop is the Marandoo Mine view only about 500 metres, and from there the trek becomes more difficult – but the sense of achievement and panoramic view of the surrounding plateau makes it very worthwhile. The Marandoo Mine is owned by Hamersley Iron, and operated by Pilbara iron. Around 120 employees work at the operations, and typically reside in the nearby town of Tom Price. From the Marandoo Mine view we take the Honey Hakea Track which is a 4.6km round trip that is about a 3 hour journey. This track takes us further up the mountain to give another vantage point. From here you can see the vegetation patterns of the mulga on the flats surrounding Mt Bruce. It can take anywhere between four to six hours round trip to climb Mount Bruce depending on your level of fitness. We will probably see the iron ore trains which spread anything up to two kilometres long near the Marandoo Mine. Contact us for more information on Mount Bruce or any other tour.
