Mount Augustus Tour 7 day camping with everything supplied
Below you will find our Mount Augustus Tour Package for your 7 Day All Inclusive camping holiday – with everything supplied.
Our Mount Augustus tour will take you to some of the real remote outback areas of Western Australia. There is a lot of dirt driving (it’s okay I will do that), hard physical activity in walking up Mt Augustus, seeing absolutely beautiful stars and sunsets, an amazing wildflower display in season (August-September usually), but at the same time seeing some of our beautiful coastal scenery.
Typical River Crossing we travel across on our Mount Augustus Tour
Our Mount Augustus Tour is not really for the feint hearted, but if you want to see it all, but don't think you can walk up Mt Augustus, come anyway and spend the day either in camp or walk as far as you want. (If you do this, just be aware that the rest of us will be walking up the mountain - about a 6 hour return journey).
Day 1: Perth – Kalbarri
Our Mount Augustus Tour starts. Leave Perth 7.00am heading north out of the city we travel to Nambung National Park, the setting of the mysterious Pinnacles. We park the car and walk around these spectacular limestone formations to the lookout. After leaving the Pinnacles we stop along the way for lunch. We then continue on to Kalbarri, where we have our first nights stay. Here you will have full access of all facilities including laundry, shower, toilet and swimming pool. L/D
Day 2: Kalbarri – Monkey Mia
After breakfast we visit the Kalbarri National Park at Ross Graham and Hawk's Head lookouts. From here we drive to Hamelin Pool and the Stromatolites stopping for lunch along the way. We continue on to Shell Beach and then Monkey Mia at Shark Bay via Denham for the night. We stay at Monkey Mia Resort with full access of all facilities including laundry, shower, toilet and swimming pool. B/L/D
Day 3: Monkey Mia – Kennedy Range
A leisurely breakfast gives us a chance to meet the world famous Bottle Nosed Dolphins. After viewing the Dolphins in their natural environment we leave for Kennedy Ranges. Travelling through Gascoyne Junction, we get to Kennedy Ranges late afternoon. Note there is a pit toilet here but no showers or running water. B/L/D
Day 4: Kennedy Range – Mount Augustus
There are a few different walks in Kennedy Range that we will go on including seeing the unusual Honeycomb Gorge and Temple Gorge. We then travel on the real outback roads to Mount Augustus for the night. B/L/D
Day 5: Mount Augustus – Mount Augustus
Today we walk up Mount Augustus. Good Luck! There are a couple of different walks that will get us to the top – the Summit walk and the Gully walk. The Gully walk is much more difficult than the Summit Walk. If you think you are fit enough we will take the Gully walk otherwise we can take the Summit walk. B/L/D
Day 6: Mount Augustus – Mt Magnet
Packing up we travel through Landor (home of the annual bush Landor Race Event in October). We stop at the Mt Gould Police Station and Lockup en-route to Meekatharra. Back on sealed roads now we continue to Mt Magnet for the night. B/L/D
Day 7: Mt Magnet – Perth
Last day - leaving Mt Magnet we travel home via New Norcia with a final stop in the Swan Valley to visit Margaret River Chocolate Factory - arriving back in Perth about 6pm. B/L
