Visit the Monk Monastery at New Norcia and Sandalford Winery on our 11 day tour
Thursday
Last time we have to pack up camp - and we head towards the Monk Monastery at New Norcia and Sandalford Winery. (There is an option to go to Margaret River Chocolate Factory instead of the winery if people wish).
After breakfast we leave Wogarno Station stopping at New Norcia which is famous for the Benedictine Order. The historic settlement was founded by Dom Rosendo Salvado on 1 March 1846 and the church still contains the tomb of Dom Rosendo Salvado. This church is the oldest Catholic Church still in use in WA. In addition to the church, other significant historical buildings include the monastery, colleges and convents.

A few people grab a quick sandwich and take with them while they take the Heritage Trail walk. The heritage trail is suitable for all walkers and is about 2km long. There is also a museum and art gallery of which a couple of people visited. Then again, Margaret just sat under the tree and relaxed awhile as she tried to finish her book. (We have a box of books on the bus you are more than welcome to read during the tour).
Next, and last stop, is the Sandalford Winery in the Swan Valley. We have a bit of wine tasting with an opportunity to purchase a few bottles and after 11 amazing days we arrive back in Perth.
Sandalford Winery
We say goodbye to each other and wish everyone all the best and I am sure a few people will keep in touch with each other for many years to come.
