Cooking Equipment for your Bush Camping.

You will need all sorts of cooking equipment when you go bush camping or any type of camping.

Our list is by no means exhaustive and you should adapt it to suit yourself. It depends on what type of camping you are going to be doing also. If you are going to be spending your time in caravan parks, your requirements will be different than if you are going bush camping.

We have mentioned what Food to take, now you need to be able to cook this food and have something to eat it with.

Your cooking equipment is designed for extended use and not just a once off camping trip. So buy it carefully and look after it. If you have cast iron or spun steel cookware (camp oven, saucepans, frying pans), they need to be cleaned and looked after to prevent rust and corrosion.

To clean an oven or pan, soak it in water after you have finished cooking, (allow the pan to cool slightly first) while you are eating your food, and it should be fairly easy to clean. Otherwise you can warm it near your fire to loosen food particles. Wipe them out with paper towel; this will leave a coating of oil on the inside that will prevent rusting. Avoid using a heavy scourer when cleaning it to prevent scratching. The non-scratch ones are good. If food particles are stuck in the pan, wash it with hot soapy water and dry thoroughly. For long term storage, wipe the inside of the pan with cooking oil to prevent rust.

The following is a suggestion for Cooking Equipment to take on your bush camping. I will break this up under Camp Oven and then other:
