What Tasmanian tour would be complete without a visit to Cascade Brewery?
Founded by Peter Degraaves in 1824, The Cascade Brewery Co. at Hobart Town Tasmania is Australia’s oldest brewery. Degraves vowed then to produce “genuine beer… beer that cannot be excelled in this colony.” This Vision is still upheld today, producing beers of the finest quality.
Nestled in the rolling hills of South Hobart, the Historic buildings are set against the majestic backdrop of Mount Wellington and offer brewery tours, fine gardens and Historic buildings to the curious tourist.
As the headquarters for the Cascade Brewery, The Cascade Beverage Company and Carlton & United Breweries in Tasmania, the brewery is of great interest to both beer lovers and history buffs alike.
Tours include a look inside the workings of the Brewery, allowing participants to watch some of the country's finest beers being produced in the historic plant, as well as a walk through the famous Woodstock Gardens and a tour of the Cascade museum which includes an extensive range of historic pieces.
