Beer damper is one of many variations available. Damper is a traditional bread baked in the coals of an open fire or in a camp oven. It is just as easy to bake it in a normal oven though.
Beer Damper in the oven -
INGREDIENTS
4 cups self raising flour
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
375 ml beer
METHOD
Place flour in a bowl. Make a well in the centre and add the butter and beer.
Mix it to a soft dough. Add extra flour if you need to. Shape the dough into a ball and flatten it slightly.
Wrap the ball in aluminum foil and place in the centre of the oven on medium heat (375degrees).
Bake it until it has risen and brown - about 25-30 minutes.
Excellent with golden syrup, jam or goes well with your soup etc.
