Recipe for Apple Crumble by Crikey Adventure Tours

Whenever I make apple crumble on our tours it is always a resounding success. For some reason this is always somebody's favourite - including mine. Maybe that is why I usually make it on most tours.

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 cooking apples (I always use Granny Smith's) peeled, cored and sliced
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (optional)
CRUMBLE TOPPING

There are many variations to this and you can make your own.

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups plain flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • I like to add 1/3 cup coconut too
METHOD
  • Place apples in an oven proof dish.
  • Sprinkle with sugar.
Crumble Topping
  • Rub butter and plain flour together until it resembles bread crumbs.
  • Add sugar and coconut and mix.
Putting it together
  • Sprinkle topping over apples
  • Place in oven and bake at 180 degrees Celcius for about 15-20 minutes.
Serve with custard, cream and/or ice-cream.
